Welcome to Lotek Life, this is where I document the things I’m doing in my garden particularly converting my wasteland into a beautiful allotment.
Lotek Life is purely for my own pleasure – in that same narcissistic way that musicians ‘only write songs for themselves’. So yes this website is for my own pleasure but I’m also a writer and acutely aware this blog is public to whoever is mad enough to read it.
So I hope that you, dear reader, get something out of it.
What is a Lotek Life?
A Lotek Life is a balance between
low tech and high tech.
The 2020 lockdown gave my family the space to slow down, enjoy time together (which is usually rare) and explore things we love. Gardening and growing our own food became the highlight.
Being isolated from the world gave me a new energy. I’m a strong introvert so it was refreshing, but its not good to be a hermit all the time.
And I certainly don’t want to abandon all of my tech. So this website is not the low tech life of a digital minimalist.
I work in a high tech job as a digital content specialist focused on SEO, analytics and content design.
I love what I do for a job and there is always something new to learn or test in the digital world.
But that’s not always great for mental health and certainly not for physical fitness.
So having my allotment and documenting it’s progress is not only a break from the digital life but it’s also a new hobby.
I’m also interested in exploring the integration of low tech into a high tech life and how it’s possible to balance them. If its possible.
And yes, the irony of documenting a Lotek life on a website is not lost on me – I’m still a digital native at heart.
